Princess Polly Sizing Guide: Does Princess Polly Run Small? (Real Try-On Review)

Shopping for clothes online is always a little risky when you’re unsure about sizing. Princess Polly has a huge selection of dresses, tops, jeans, skirts and trendy going-out pieces, but one question comes up often: Does Princess Polly run small?

The short answer is: Princess Polly generally fits true to size, but some styles—especially fitted dresses, non-stretch fabrics and certain denim—can feel smaller than expected. The brand itself says that sizing can vary depending on the fabric and style, so checking the individual product page is just as important as checking the general size chart.

Here’s a practical Princess Polly sizing guide, including measurements, fit tips and what real shoppers have reported.

Does Princess Polly Run Small?

Princess Polly does not consistently run small across its entire range. Instead, the fit depends heavily on the garment.

For example, a relaxed jacket may feel oversized in your normal size, while a fitted mini dress made from non-stretch fabric can feel much tighter. Princess Polly also labels individual products with fit information, and some product pages include customer feedback showing whether an item runs small, true to size or large.

Real customer experiences are mixed. Some shoppers report that dresses fit smaller than expected, while others say their usual Princess Polly size fits perfectly. One recent customer discussion specifically mentioned dresses feeling small, while another shopper said a particular petite dress was true to size but slightly tight around the bust.

So, rather than automatically sizing up, it's better to look at measurements + fabric + fit + customer reviews.

Princess Polly Size Chart

Princess Polly provides a detailed US size chart based on bust, waist and hip measurements.

US Size	Bust	Waist	Hips
0	31"	24"	34"
2	32"	25"	35"
4	34"	27"	37"
6	36"	29"	39"
8	38"	31"	41"
10	40"	33"	43"
12	42"	35.5"	45"
14	46.5"	39.5"	51"
16	49"	42"	53.5"
18	52"	45"	56"
20	55"	48"	59"

These measurements are intended as a guide, and Princess Polly specifically notes that garments can differ depending on their fabric and style.

International Size Conversion

Princess Polly's sizing also converts across common international systems:

• XXS: US 0 / UK 4 / EU 32
• XS: US 2 / UK 6 / EU 34
• S: US 4 / UK 8 / EU 36
• M: US 6 / UK 10 / EU 38
• L: US 8 / UK 12 / EU 40
• XL: US 10 / UK 14 / EU 42
• XXL: US 12 / UK 16 / EU 44
• 3XL: US 14 / UK 18 / EU 46
• 4XL: US 16 / UK 20 / EU 48

Princess Polly also offers petite and tall options, which can make a significant difference with dresses, pants and skirts. Its standard fit is designed around heights of approximately 5'4"–5'7", while petite is for 5'3" and under and tall is for 5'8" and above.

Which Princess Polly Clothes Tend to Feel Smaller?

Fitted Dresses

Dresses are probably the category where you should pay the most attention to measurements.

Bodycon and strapless styles have less room for adjustment. A current Princess Polly strapless mini dress, for example, is marked by customer reviews as “Runs small.”

If you're between two sizes and the dress has little or no stretch, choosing the larger size can be more comfortable.

Jeans and Tailored Pants

Denim and tailored trousers can also vary considerably. Check whether the fabric is described as stretch or non-stretch before ordering.

Princess Polly even notes on one current trouser listing that the particular style runs smaller in one colorway than another. That's a good reminder that you shouldn't assume every item from the same brand fits identically.

Oversized Tops and Jackets

The opposite can happen with relaxed silhouettes. Oversized shirts, jackets and sweaters may look noticeably larger if you order your usual size.

If you prefer a more fitted appearance, sizing down may work—but check the individual garment measurements first.

Princess Polly Fit Finder: Is It Worth Using?

One of the easiest ways to avoid guessing is Princess Polly's Fit Finder.

The brand's sizing tool asks questions about factors such as your height, weight, body shape and preferred fit, then uses customer purchase and return information to generate a recommended size. The tool is available directly on product pages.

I'd use it whenever you're buying a style for the first time, particularly if you're between sizes.

My Take: Should You Size Up at Princess Polly?

I wouldn't automatically size up.

A better approach is:

True-to-size recommendation: Start with your normal size if the garment has stretch or a relaxed fit.

Consider sizing up: Choose the larger size if you're between sizes and the item is fitted, structured or made from non-stretch fabric.

Consider sizing down: Only consider it for clearly oversized or relaxed styles where the product description recommends a looser fit.

Always check reviews: Customer reviews can reveal issues that aren't obvious from the size chart, such as a dress being tight around the bust or a mini skirt running particularly short.

What If Your Princess Polly Order Doesn't Fit?

Princess Polly currently offers exchange options, including Instant Exchange and Standard Exchange. For US/UK domestic returns, the brand says a $6.95 return shipping fee is deducted from refunds, while that fee is waived when customers choose store credit. International customers generally cover their own return shipping costs.

That makes getting the first order right worthwhile, especially if you're ordering internationally.

Final Verdict: Does Princess Polly Run Small?

Not across the board. Princess Polly is best described as mostly true to size with noticeable variation between styles.

If you're buying a stretchy top or relaxed jacket, your normal size is usually a sensible starting point. For fitted dresses, tailored trousers, rigid denim and other non-stretch pieces, measurements and reviews matter much more.

The safest strategy is simple: measure yourself, compare your numbers with the Princess Polly chart, check the item's specific fit notes, and use Fit Finder when available. That gives you a much better chance of getting the right size on the first order.
